Rapids to help raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer in OctoberCOMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, September 26, 2011) – The Colorado Rapids, Kroenke Sports Charities and the Colorado Cancer Coalition – Breast Cancer Task Force have joined together with a variety of efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. The Rapids will help raise money and awareness for the Colorado Cancer Coalition, and will also integrate the color pink – which helps represent Breast Cancer Awareness – into their match on October 14 against Real Salt Lake .
For the Rapids’ two home matches in October, against FC Dallas on Oct. 1 and Real Salt Lake on Oct. 14, the Rapids Community Relations table atop Section 129 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will offer the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and charity sales, as well as in-kind donations benefitting the Breast Cancer Task Force for the Colorado Cancer Coalition. Also, against Real Salt Lake , the Rapids will wear pink armbands, use a special pink adidas match ball, and much more, using the color to help raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
All proceeds from the various efforts will benefit the Colorado Breast Cancer Resources Directory, a statewide guide of support resources and information for those recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Since 1993, The Colorado Cancer Coalition has served as the chamber of commerce for statewide cancer organizations and services, with 265 member organizations and more than 730 individual members dedicating themselves to achieving increased prevention, research, early detection, and improved treatment of cancer for all Coloradans. The Breast Cancer Task Force advocates for and works to improve quality care – from screening through survivorship – for people affected by Breast Cancer in Colorado , with efforts like the Directory.
