Recreation Center offers fishing instruction for all ages

The city of Brighton’s Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Colorado Division of Wildlife, will offer an Angler Outreach program from 10 a.m. to noon and from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at the Brighton Park ponds, 555 N. 11th.

The cost for this family activity is $5/person. Youth 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and parents are encouraged to attend with their older children to assist during fishing. Equipment is provided for youth 15 and under.

This program includes 45 minutes of instruction and an hour of fishing. Participants will learn:

* Wildlife management
* Angler ethics and safety
* Catch and release tactics
* Casting techniques
* Knot tying
* Equipment and tackle
* Locals rules and regulations

This is an all weather event. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for conditions.
