COMMERCE CITY, COLO. – Still need a flu shot to ward off winter’s worst enemy? Wondering if your child is meeting those important developmental milestones? Having trouble breathing? Did you find a lump in your breast and need to have it checked out? Next week’s Family 9 HealthFair can help answer these questions and more through free and low-cost health screenings for the entire family.
Held from 7 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6 at the Adams City High School, 7200 Quebec Parkway in Commerce City, friendly volunteer medical professionals will assist people of all ages in obtaining information about their family’s health, learning about healthy habits in a fun and welcoming environment.
“The annual Family 9HealthFair, Feria de Salud, is an access point for individuals to improve their health,” said Mizraim Cordero, Commerce City intergovernmental relations manager and site coordinator for the event. “Participants can take advantage of more than 20 free health screenings and several low-cost screenings during the event. Commerce City is excited to partner with 9HealthFair and hundreds of volunteers to meet the health needs of our community and north metro Denver residents.”

Nearly 40 agencies and non-profit organizations will be available to educate residents on available services and resources to improve health or address specific challenges.
The fair is a great volunteer opportunity as well for non-profits, church groups and individuals. Volunteers – especially bilingual speakers – are still needed both days from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help with registration, directing people through the fair, sharing information about services offered and parking. A health background is not needed and individuals can register online at http://www.9healthfair.org/Volunteer/.
