Partner in the fight against cancer by running stadium stairs for charity
Dozens of Colorado non-profit cancer organizations are collaborating for one mission: to partner in the fight against cancer. Step Up for Cancer is a multi-generational stair-climbing event open to families and individuals of all ages. In its third year, participants will have the opportunity to earn pledges for their cancer charity of choice on Sunday, August 7 by climbing all 1,765 stairs at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park or just a portion of the 33 rows of stairs.
Anyone – regardless of their age or athletic ability – is invited to walk, climb, or run the course circling the stadium. There will also be an Elite timed heat for competitive racers that kicks off first thing in the morning. Spectators will have a 360 degree view of their friends and loved ones as they cheer them on, while musical entertainment ensures a good time for all.
Register for Step Up for Cancer and get additional information about the event at www.stepupforcancer.org. Cost for participation is $30 which includes a t-shirt and goodie bag. Registration is $40 the day of the event. Individuals or teams can also raise additional funds by asking for pledges from friends and families knowing that 100% of their pledges go directly to their cancer charity of choice.
With an estimated 20,000 Coloradoans being diagnosed with cancer each year, this event was developed to initiate awareness, fundraising and education in a healthy stair climbing event to ultimately, bridge a cure for cancer.
