Due to a confirmed outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1) throughout the western United States and Canada, Adams County has elected to extend its moratorium on all equine-related events through June 5, 2011 as a precautionary measure. Adams County is also prohibiting the boarding of horses and camelids at the county fairgrounds located at 9755 Henderson Road in Brighton through June 5.Adams County will re-evaluate this precautionary measure as more information comes to light in early June.
EHV-1 is a highly contagious strain which specifically attacks horses and camelids.
